State Library of Victoria

Just a review of sorts.

This library is Australia’s oldest public library, established in 1854. It’s a gorgeous building, located in a tiny green-park oasis within Melbourne’s shopping precinct.

Now, I love a library and you’ll often find me in one. But Victoria’s State Library is one of the most beautiful libraries I’ve visited. The LaTrobe Reading Room, (The Dome) with its elaborate octagonal domed ceiling, is especially wonderful. This, in my opinion, is a must-see. You can walk through the Reading room, or you can explore the galleries around it, with their own displays such as ‘World of the Book’.

That’s a ‘wow’, right?

Here you’ll find the seating and wi-fi is free, so you can just wander in, settle yourself and get to work! Quietly of course. Which I did. No coffee allowed though! Make sure you finish the caffeine before entry!

Travel writing!

Once you’re finished with your work, and have explored the other exhibitions, you can find Ned Kelly’s armour in the South Rotunda.
